Mirona - Bangladesh's pioneering female coach 

Dhaka: Not many Bangladeshis would quit a safe, public-sector job with perks and a pension to become a full-time football coach but Mirona, Bangladesh's first female coach at club level, has done just that.

And the 27-year-old, who comes from a humble background, has no regrets.

"I have always dreamt of being coach of a top team and one day even the national side," said Mirona, who stands barely 1.5 metres tall.

Sydney: Football Federation Australia (FFA) and New Zealand Football (NZF) are delighted their ground-breaking vision to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 will be realised after being awarded the hosting rights by FIFA.

FFA and NZF thanked the FIFA Council for their landmark decision on Thursday, which will see the two countries host a tournament of firsts ─ the first ever co-confederation hosted FIFA World Cup, the first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup to be held in the Asia-Pacific region, and the first ever to be held in the southern hemisphere.

Seoul: Lee Dong-gook may be seeking his coaching badges but the veteran is determined to continue powering Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC in their search for glory.

The 41-year-old striker missed Jeonbuk's last two matches against Pohang Steelers and Gwangju as he was attending an AFC ‘A’ coaching course.

Jeonbuk won both matches in his absence but will be glad to welcome their leading scorer for the top-of-the-table clash against Ulsan Hyundai FC on Sunday.

Jeonbuk lead the standings on 21 points, just one ahead of Ulsan, which sets up an enticing tie at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium.
